Luongo Leads Vancouver 2-1 over Wings
The Vancouver Canucks win against The Detroit Red Wings 2-1 Wednesday night at Joe louis.

First period looked really good for the Wings. Very happy with the decision to call up Jan Mursak. He played hard and put a couple good shots on. Eaves got an interference call with 7:10 left in the period, and what happened? Of course, Darren Helm got out on a huge breakaway after the puck popped up and landed in the neutral zone. However, he shot it center mass on Luongo who easily covered it up. The Red Wings would be hard pressed to have a PK without Helm getting a breakaway, and I love it. After that we went on the Power Play, which they said it was brought to you by Bell Tire, but was actually brought to you by Daniel Sedin at 14:29 for holding. But, we didn’t score on it, however, we looked dangerous, as we did for most of the period. First period shots on were 11-5 in favor of Detroit, solid period.
Second period started much like the 1st with the Wings owning much of the play. Modano came out strond with a backhand on a breakaway, but no goal at 5 minutes in. Vancouver took control of the play after that. At 13:29 Daniel Sedin scored off a play that only him and his brother can pull off. Taking the game to 1-0 in favor of Vancouver. Lots of back and forth play through the resr of the period however, Vancouver had the edge. Ryan Kessler took a terrible tripping call with 54 seconds left. The coach can’t be happy with that one, it was a delayed offsides and for some reason Kessler decided to go in anyway and trip Cleary. Red Wings go on the Power Play, real dangerous, till Holmstrom and Hamhuis took coincidentals for getting a little rough after a loose puck in front of Luongo. Period ends with Vancouver taking control of shots, 25-21 Vancouver. The Wings take 1:05 of their PP into the third.
The beginning of the Third period saw the Red Wings finishing of the left over powerplay, no luck. At 11:13 Eaves got a high sticking call, I think he only got called cause the Ref almost got hit with the puck. Daniel Sedin put it up 2-0 at 10:31 on the powerplay, while Jimmy Howard was flopping around like a fish. Wings get out on the Power play and Jiri Hudler put one up, taking the game to 2-1 with about 8 to play. Lots of good chances, but luongo stops them all. Howard gets pulled with 45 seconds left to play. Wings got more good chances, but a penalty on holmstrom kills it with a second left. The Vancouver Canucks win it 2-1:
Good game either way though. Even though Detroit was missing 3 Key players, they came came out and battled hard. And give it up to Abdelkader, He got a career high 7 shots on goal. Good game guys! Get well soon Pav, Mule, and Bert! We need you bad. Go Wings!
