Looking Ahead To The Playoffs

While in the midst of this West Coast trip, it has made me realize… the past three teams we have faced, could be who we face in the playoffs. Anaheim, while not in a playoff berth, is in 11th in the Conference, and could be a first round playoff opponent, and the Kings are a possibility, and the way the Sharks have been playing, there is no reason to think that we couldn’t see them in the conference finals. Now we did beat LA, 7-4 but we fell apart defensively in the third. We went into that 3rd period 7-1. 7-1! That’s a bad sign if the guys are just sitting back if we got a lead. This is not the point in the season to start that kind of work ethic. Oh ok, so were in second in the west were fine. Well all the teams that aren’t in second in the west, are playing their best hockey to get their. I know we are going to make the playoffs. And I know that with the state of the NHL, it doesn’t matter what seed you have going into the Playoffs, as long as you get there. Well that is not what we need to be thinking about right now.
I know we have had some bad calls the last few games. That penalty shot in overtime was BullShit. Really?! barely touched on the elbow and you go down? I’ve seen him smashed into the boards without going down! And the two called off goals we’ve had this week for goaltender interference? Garbage calls! But you know what, it happens. And you have to be able to play thru it, Not just sit and stew in it. Hey that rhymed! 1-9 for powerplays in the Aneheim game. The injuries aren’t excuses now. The only possible excuse is that Babcock is using really goofy lines. Not that I have a problem with the way Babcock works but….. Hey Babcock, go back to the lines from beginning of the season now that guys are back!
