It wasn’t too long ago that the St. Louis Blues sat atop the Western Conference, after racing to a very quick start this season it seemed as if maybe the music had finally returned to the ice in St. Louis.

However, reality set in and the Blues currently find themselves ranked 12th in the Western Conference.

Recent struggles (4-4-2 in their last 10 games) don’t exactly have the Blues poised for a deep playoff run.

The Wings on the other hand come into tonight’s game atop the West with a 19-7-3 overall record.

Detroit hasn’t been spectacular either of late winning 6 only of their last 10 games, certainly a good mark, but not what is to be expected after the pace they began the season at.

Pavel Datsyuk continues to fuel the Wings solid play with 36 points in 29 games this year. For the Blues, David Backes leads the way with 20 points in 28 contests.

Puck drops at 7:30 tonight and can be seen on Fox Sports Detroit.

Watch out for St. Louis’ powerplay tonight as they have converted on four of their eight chances over the last two games.
