For those of you living in the Detroit area and are lucky enough to have season tickets get ready to shell out more green to see the red and white. The Red Wings have neglected to raise tickets prices over the past 8 years even though their operating costs have not gone down. I’m sure the housing crisis, record high unemployment, General Motors filing bankruptcy, and Michigan having one of the worst economies in the nation wasn’t a contributing factor. After 8 years of absorbing the costs and seeing their profit margin dwindle the Red Wings have had enough. The solution to Detroit’s troubled economy is to raise the price of season tickets by an average of 11%. Some of you may see less, some may see more. I would imagine the better the seat the bigger the increase. Not sure how this will play out for all of us that do not have season tickets, but I won’t be surprised to see more empty seats during weeknight games.
