More wintery wonderland hockey

Tim over at Sabre Noise posted a really good article on the NHL expanding the Winter Classic to 2 games per year.

I think this is a good thing despite Tim’s few criticisms.  I don’t think this is overkill and I think adding another game will not adversely affect the glamor of the event.  I am getting tired of the Crosby vs. Ovechkin debate and how Gary B. thinks pitting these 2 guys against each other is the NHL’s ticket to competing with American Idol.

I don’t mind the East Coast favoritism so much because lets face it, you can’t play outdoor ice hockey in Dallas or Phoenix.  There are a few Canadian teams in the West that could host the game, but Calgary and Edmonton games are not going to make  fringe fans tune in.

I’ll write something Red Wing related soon, but for now give Tim’s post a read.  It’s worth it.
