History will be made...just not by Detroit

If your hockey season died with the Wings loss last Saturday I understand.  The NHL playoffs just aren’t the same without Detroit representin’.

If you are still watching then you know the Eastern Conference is shaking up to be some damn exciting hockey.  The Canadiens (#8 seed) have made history this year ousting the Capitals (#1 seed) in the first round AND the Penguins (#4 seed) in the second round both in dramatic 7 game fashion.  The Flyers have made the comeback that every Red Wings fan was hoping for…being down 3-0 in games and coming back to force a game 7 against the Bruins.  Every Flyers fan is hoping their team will be the third team in history to come back from such a deficit.

The Flyers (#7 seed) beat the Devils (#2 seed) in the first round and the Bruins (#6 seed) beat the Sabres (#3 seed).  So, the top 4 teams in the East are out! What’s left is a group of underdogs fighting for the chance to battle either the Sharks (#1 seed) or the Blackhawks (#2 seed) for the Holy Grail of hockey.

My proverbial money (I don’t gamble on sports…just craps) is on a Blackhawks vs Bruins/Canadiens final.
