Good Timing

Well, after another game where the Red Wings made a valiant run, but yet again came up short, we get a shot at the team that seems to make us in Hockeytown feel that our beloved heroes can do something if they can just make the playoffs.

The San Jose Sharks are comming into The Joe tonight for a showdown with the Wings.

It seems that despite the fact that the Sharks are one of the top teams in the Western Conference, the Wings seem to have their number, and have earned some big wins against them.

However, that is also a frustrating aspect of this season. If we can beat the Sharks, and keep pressure on teams like the Capitals and Penguins, Why do we have trouble with the likes of the Kings and Blues.

All this does is turn my brown hair gray and keep me up at night. If the Wings miss the playoffs, then It will be because of missed opportunities. Sure, talk about the injuries, and yes, I know that has left this team less then 100 percent for a majority of the season, but when you are not  at full strength yet you can still give the top teams in the NHL a scare, then why can’t we take care of business when we take on a team that seems more capable of beating.

I think the biggest problem is that even though the Red Wings are not the same juggernaut we have become accustom to seeing on the ice over the last two decades, they are still considered the class of the NHL, thus other teams are still bringing their A-games to the ice night in and night out, hoping that they can not only better there record or chances of making the playoffs, but be included in ending the Wings streak of postseason appearances.

On the injury side, the Wings are getting healthier, but they are still missing key pieces of the puzzle. Kronwell and Holmstrom are expected to be out tonight. Hopfully the Olympic break will give those missing in action time to heal so we can see our wings make a run and peak as the playoffs start.

Here’s to those who have stuck by this team throughout this tumulchuous season.
