This last week has been a big one for US Hockey, and a big part of that has been due in part to the hot streak by one of our Hockeytown Heroes.
With four goals in two games, including two tonight against Canada in the stunning upset of one of the gold medal favorites, Brian Rafalski has gained a great deal of momentum at the right time for Team USA. The Life of Brian
Sneak Peek???
Well, here we are at the Olympic Break and the Wings are still fighting for their playoff lives. As negative as that may sound, I am actually quite pleased with the state of Hockeytown at this moment.
The Wings’ convincing win over Ottawa to close out the pre-Olympic part of the schedule was a thing of beauty, something that has been lacking at times this season.
Now, with more players getting a chance to heal with the two-week vacation, and an almost fully operational Red Wings attack, We are going to see what this team can really do once the season resumes next [...]
Good Timing
Well, after another game where the Red Wings made a valiant run, but yet again came up short, we get a shot at the team that seems to make us in Hockeytown feel that our beloved heroes can do something if they can just make the playoffs.
The San Jose Sharks are comming into The Joe tonight for a showdown with the Wings.
It seems that despite the fact that the Sharks are one of the top teams in the Western Conference, the Wings seem to have their number, and have earned some big wins against them.
However, that is also a frustrating [...]
It’s not how you start
Saturday’s game against the Kings was a classic illustration of the old saying “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
I am hoping that adadge will be the one that describes the Wings 2009-10 season.
Today’s loss was tough and it took me a few hours to at least be able to write about it. I just kept saying, “when you are in a playoff race, you can’t blow three-goal leads.
It was a nice start after a totally crappy game against the Ducks, but MAN, you have a team down by three in the NHL, YOU GOT TO FINISH THE [...]
I am not totally upset about Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh, although it would have been a great win.
Despite the shutout loss, the Wings once again proved to be competitive against one of the top teams in the NHL. The thing that got to me was seeing the two whinny girls (Sydney Crosby and Evgeni Mulkin) celebrating another victory over our beloved team.
We need wins right now with the kings coming off a perfect road trip, but I think the ultimate goal is to stay in contention heading into the break, but the biggest problem the franchise will have to deal [...]
