Wings love L.A.

Posted by: wingnut5013

Impressive victory last night over the team that is just above them in the Western Conference standings.

Jimmy Howard had to make 51 save, and the Kings took double the amount of shots as the Wings did, but it is was the Winged Wheel Warriors who came away with a 2-1 win thanks to Daren Helm’s spectacular goal with 17.3 left in the game.

The most important thing is that Detroit earned two big points with the victory, and the Wings pull to within three points of L.A. for the final playoff spot.

I was very excited to see Dan Cleary make an impact in his first game back from his separated shoulder. He beat the clock in the first period, scoring with just a few tenths of a second left.

Although the Wings got back on track with the W, their biggest pest got to our favorite pest last night.

The injury bug once again decided that it just couldn’t stay away as it took a bite out of Thomas Holmstrom, who is expected to miss three to four weeks with a fractured foot.

I think Mike Babcock needs to put a help wanted sign in the Wings locker room this week that says somthing like this :

Pest needed to cause goalies headaches for 14 to 21 days.

Qualified candidates need to be comfortable placing backsides into places most feel they don’t belong, must be willing to have hard vulcanized rubber saucers shot in their general direction, and must have a strong back used to taking cross checks.

The ability to redirect pucks into the net is not neccisary, but a plus.

Interested candidates should find a place at the edge of the opponents crease Saturday night inside ‘The Shark Tank”.

As most of you know, San Jose is the top team in the Pacific Division and the No. 2 seed right now in the Western Conference standings behind those vile, good for nothing, Blackhawks from the Windy City. A win Saturday could send a message to the league with the next wave of injured players almost ready to return.

After the Olympic break, look out for the Winged Wheel!!!
