sThis has been a tough week in Hockeytown full of could of, should ofs and would ofs.
Despite still being on the outside looking in, I am still standing my ground that the Wings are still going to make the playoffs and keep the streak alive. I have one concern though, Why would Ken Holland allow Mule to play for Team Sweden in the Olympics?!?!?! And further more, why would he put his season in jeopardy by doing so.
I understand the honor and the pride for playing for you home country in the Olympic games, and maybe I am being a [...]

battered, but not beaten
Another chance slipped away
It was dissapointing to watch the Wings let another opportunity to jump past the Kings go by the wayside last night.
Dispite their latest set back, I am still not concerned about them missing the playoffs. There is still a lot of hockey left to be played and we can get back on track Tuesday night with a win over Phoenix.
I also have a great deal of confidance that LA will stumble at some time over the next two months, allowing healthy Wings team to overtake them. Also, Calgary is not playing that great right now and from what I understand, [...]
Wings go Wild in Minni
Last nights thrilling shootout win against Minnesota has set up an opportunity for the Wings to overtake the Kings for the eighth spot with about three weeks left before the Olympic break.
A lot of good things to talk about from last nights 4-3 win that nearly became another third-period disaster.
I could not believe it when I saw a two-goal advantage disappear like it did in Dallas on Saturday. However, this time, Jimmy Howard stepped up in OT and in the shootout to give the Wings the win.
I do think Detroit needs to stop letting these third-period leads slip away, but [...]
Although the Wings left two points on the ice this weekend (one in Dallas and one at the Joe), I was a bit more optimistic about their chances to make the playoffs after their overtime loss to Chicago.
Trust me, after watching them blow a 2-0 lead to the Stars I thought I was going to have another Maalox moment, but seeing them compete against the best team so far this season in the entire NHL, made me feel that they are starting to form into shape. I think it is a realistic goal for them to finish as high as [...]
Back on track?
After a forgetful night on Long Island, the Wings had the type of game that we needed them to Thursday night.
They seemed to have that spring in their step again and now have us feeling like this could be another great season. However, the next 15 games will make the story clearer.
With games against Dallas, Chicago, Washington, Minnesota and LA, the next five games will be crucial for the Wings as they fight to stay in the playoff picture. The Kings are currently one point ahead of the Wings, while the Wild are three points back and the Stars are [...]
I am going to make this short and sweet because I am still trying to battle my way through the last stages of this head cold that started on Friday, and after watching the Islanders’ scrimmage against the Adirondack Wings Tuesday night I’m not feeling much better.
I hope that it was just jet lag and with a couple of days back home in their own beds the Wings will be ready to take on Carolina.
Don’t get me wrong, it was a successful road trip, but to end on that flat of a note was a little disheartening, especially because the [...]
Saturday the Red Wings showed why they will be a scary opening round opponent for any of the Western Conference’s current top teams as the dismantled, derailed and totally dominated the Pacific Division leading Sharks.
The win capped off a four-game west coast swing where, ironically enough, the Wings earned three wins over teams currently in the top eight (Pheonix, LA and San Jose), and fell to the a team that is below them in the standings (Anaheim).
This was seriously a make or break road trip for the guys. Coming away with six points pull them to within one point of [...]
Wings love L.A.
Impressive victory last night over the team that is just above them in the Western Conference standings.
Jimmy Howard had to make 51 save, and the Kings took double the amount of shots as the Wings did, but it is was the Winged Wheel Warriors who came away with a 2-1 win thanks to Daren Helm’s spectacular goal with 17.3 left in the game.
The most important thing is that Detroit earned two big points with the victory, and the Wings pull to within three points of L.A. for the final playoff spot.
I was very excited to see Dan Cleary make an [...]
