After suffering two losses to teams who reside below the Mason-Dixon Line, the Red Wings stars got the team back on track Saturday in a 3-2 shoot-out win against Montreal.

Pav and Hank scored in the shoot out, while Jimmy Howard made a crucial save on Mike Cammalleri and had one shot hit the post in the tie breaker. Hank ended the game with a shot through the pads of Canadian goaltender Carey Price.

Brad Stuart and Datsyuk both scored on powerplay goals in the first as Montreal could not stay out of hte sin bin. Stuart fired off eight shots in the opening 20 minutes.

I think the biggest thing tonight’s game tells us is that right now, Jimmy is beating out Ozzy for the No. 1 spot between the pipes. Granted, Chris did not get much offensive help in the two losses against Dallas and Florida, but at this time I am feeling much more confident when Howard is in goal. That is tough for me to say because those who are friends of mine on facebook know that i am wearing an Osgood No. 30 sweater on my profile pic.

On offense, I am happy to see the two most dangerous men at the forward position for the Red Wings came through yet again. I have been most impressed with Pavel and Hank’s contributions on the scoreboard over the last month. Once we get some other guys earning points and the Mule gets back in the line up I am sure we will be a dangerous team.

Still waiting to see how badly Kronwell is hurt. I hope it is nothing two serious because another long recovery time for another key player might be enough to keep the Wings from staying ahead of the pack in the Central Division.
